Press Release – FORUM FOR 6TH MIDDLESEX CANDIDATES

FRAMINGHAM DEMOCRATS TO HOLD CANDIDATE FORUM FOR
6TH MIDDLESEX DISTRICT HOUSE CONTENDERS

Framingham (6/18/18) – The Framingham Democratic Town Committee will be holding its June Meeting at 7:00 PM, this Sunday, June 24th, in the Community Room at The Framingham Green, 136 Maynard Road.

The highlight of the meeting will be a Candidate Forum for the Democratic contestants running for the 6th Middlesex House District seat which was formerly held by Chris Walsh.  The candidates will each be given an opportunity to give a short opening introduction, respond to several questions, and do a short closing statement.

The members will consider bylaw amendments changing the name of the now-town committee, giving additional rights to Associate Members, and expanding the age range of members to include high school students that pre-register as Democrats.

Finally, the members will vote on a Resolution asking the City Council, Mayor, state delegation and congressional delegation to condemn the actions of the Trump Administration for their inhumane treatment of immigrant children.

It is anticipated that various candidates for state-wide constitutional office, as well as county and regional office will be in attendance. They will each be given an opportunity to discuss their campaigns.

This month’s charity will be collecting new or gently read books for donation to the King Elementary School Library.

The Framingham Democratic Town Committee normally meets on the third Sunday evening of the month at the Community Building at The Framingham Green, 136 Maynard Road, Framingham, MA 01701. More information on the Town Committee is available on the website at www.framinghamdems.org, or from Chairwoman, Beverly Hugo at Beverly.Hugo1@gmail.com

Framingham (5/20/18) – The Framingham Democratic Town Committee met tonight and solidly defeated the idea of holding a caucus to fill the ballot position of the late Rep. Chris Walsh.  The vote of 27 – 5 defeated a move to have a small number of party members decide whose name will be placed on the ballot in November.  By rejecting a caucus, the Democratic Committee opened the field to any registered Democrat wishing to run for the seat.  There will be a primary in September, which will consist of an open ballot, with a line to write in the voter’s choice.(Read more…)
