Framingham Democratic Caucus 2018

Framingham Democrats Caucus Feb 11, 2018

The Framingham Town Democratic Caucus will take place on Sunday February 11, 2018 at Heritage Senior Assisted Living, 747 Water Street, Framingham.

The purpose of this caucus is to elect Framingham’s delegation to the annual Democratic State Convention taking place in June at the DCU Center in Worcester.

The 2018 Democratic Convention will be a nominating convention with candidates running for state-wide offices seeking nomination to the 2018 Democratic state primary ballot.

The caucus registration will begin at 6:00pm. Call-to-Order at 7:00pm. (Registration desk closes 15 minutes after call-to-order.) The rules governing registration are strictly enforced. All who wish to participate in the caucus must arrive before the close of registration.

NOTE: All candidates for delegates and alternates must be present at the caucus.  Nominations cannot be given for individuals not in attendance.  An exception is made for military personnel who are on duty. Such persons must inform the Committee chair ahead of time that they are serving, therefore unable to attend the caucus and wish to be nominated.

DELEGATION: The Framingham delegation has been allocated a total of 36 delegates and 6 alternates.  The Framingham DTC Chair at the time of the convention will be an ex-officio delegate.  The remaining 35 delegate seats will be filled by election at the caucus. The delegation will be gender balanced with 17 male, 17 female delegates and the final 35th delegate may be either male or female.  The 6 alternates will also be gender balanced, 3 male and 3 female.

Meeting Minutes – Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 5:30 PM

Candidates’ Forum

Call to Order: Chair Beverly Hugo called the meeting to order at 5:34 PM.

  1. Announcements:

– Jeanne Bullock recently fell and broke her arm; a get-well card is circulating, so please sign.  Clearly, we will need an interim Hospitality Chair for the next few meetings until Jeanne regains use of her arm.  – We are also seeking a Minority Outreach Chair as our current chair is no longer able to attend meetings on Sunday evenings.

– We will be electing at least one new member of the FDTC in November.

– Beverly requested a moment of silence for Devin Suau, the 6 year-old Framingham boy who died last Friday.(Read more…)

DEMOCRATIC CAMPAIGN INSTITUTE – Jan 19, 20 & 21 in Lowell

DCI JAN 19-21 at UMASS Conference Center in Lowell

The Democratic State Committee’s Campaign Services Subcommittee is bringing back the Democratic Campaign Institute (DCI). This is a 3-day program featuring political operatives from Massachusetts and also from across the nation. Attendees will received hands-on training on all elements of successful campaigning. Included topics are : capaign plan development, stategic messaging, fund raising basics.

DCI takes place January 19, 20 & 21, 2018 at the UMASS Lowell Inn & Conference Center. Registration is $75. It begins 5pm on Friday Jan 19th, concluding by 2pm on Sunday Jan 21st.
