A two-term Framingham City Councilor from the 7th district, announced she is a candidate for state representative.
Previous to her city councilor seat, Shepard was an elected Town Meeting member, who served on the Ways and Means Committee, also she was treasurer and outreach co-chair of the Framingham Democratic Committee. Additionally, she served as a commissioner on the MetroWest Commission on the Status of Women, and was elected chair of the first Massachusetts Brazilian American Citizens Council. Shepard owns & operates a business, Golden Cleaners, in Framingham for over 30 years.
Shepard is a Democrat and was the first Brazilian American elected to a city council seat in Massachusetts when she won in the November 2017 election.
Framingham has three state representatives: Jack Patrick Lewis, Maria Robinson and Carmine Gentile, all Democrats. Robinson was recently nominated as an assistant secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity and would resign her seat should she be confirmed.
