The October business meeting of the Framingham Democratic Committee will feature an introduction of the Democratic candidates contesting in the 2021 Framingham city elections.

The meeting will be held virtually on Zoom beginning at 7pm on Sunday October 17th.

The chair reviewed the agenda and called the meeting to order at 7:04pm.

Presentation: Act now … Save Earth! Earth Day Initiatives

  • Aimee Powalka, Sustainable Framingham: Energize Framingham
    • Rozzy Hooper-Hamersley introduced the first speaker. Aimee is the heartbeat and one of the driving forces of Sustainable Framingham.
    • Energize Framingham is an online collaborative effort developed for Framingham.
    • An online resource and community building tool to help residents feel empowered to fight climate change. Everyone can make a difference!
    • Actions – You can sort to find action items that you can do on a variety of different levels. There is something for everyone. Several items will direct you to Mass Save to do energy assessments and efficiency projects.
    • Experiences – residents can share their experience and learn from each other about actions to accomplish.
    • Teamwork – residents can see their individual impact and how it contributes and combines with other neighbors. Neighbors can chat together and discuss what everyone is working on.
    • Goals – this will show how far the city has done to reach goals set forth by Sustainable Framingham.
    • If you are interested in getting started, you can join at Energize Framingham.org and this will let them know what city to attribute your actions.

  • The Chair reviewed the agenda and called the meeting to order at 7:03pm.

Presentation: It is time to get ready for 2022

  • The Chair introduced our speaker and welcomed her to our meeting.
  • Erin Buechele, Regional Organizing Coordinator, Mass Democratic Party: Blueprint for ’22, FDC participation as a pilot program.
    • Her new position for the MASS Dems is as Relational Organizational Coordinator
    • Began meeting with Dem Committee chairs and members in January.
    • Rollout in March and hosting monthly activities to track by the state party.
    • Invest in grassroots teams and become the central hub for campaigns.
    • Monthly training and skill building sessions as well. Also, the place to foster better communication between DTC’s to share ideas and resources.
    • Framingham chosen as 1 of 14 committees chosen to pilot this program; debrief on April 20th.
    • This month is to initiate conversations with 10 friends and taking stock of relationships you have in a meaningful way and track those relationships.

Ohad Klopman Elected To FDC Membership

Additional Vacancy To Be Filled In October

At the September 19th FDC meeting two vacancies were to be filled by a vote from the membership.  One vacancy was filled by Ohad Klopman, elected without opposition.

Election for the second vacancy was tabled to the October business meeting.
