Framingham Democrats will caucus on Sunday March 5, 2017 to elect Framingham’s delegation to the 2017 Democratic State Convention that will be held in June at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.

The 2017 Democratic State Convention is the Platform Convention that takes place in the year following a presidential election.  Delegates will vote to approve the party platform at the convention. (Platform hearings will be taking place across the state during the spring where citizens will have the opportunity to offer input for the platform.  Contact the Mass Democratic Party 617-939-0800 for hearing locations.)

In addition, potential candidates for the next midterm elections will be starting to make their interests known to delegates. As such, the convention will offer an opportunity to become involved early with these campaigns.

The caucus is open to the public, however only registered Democrats in Framingham are eligible to participate in the caucus for the purposes of either voting in the caucus or for seeking election as a delegate or alternate.

Any Framingham resident who is not a registered Democrat but who wishes to participate in the caucus may change their voting enrollment to the Democratic Party prior to the start of the caucus. (Voter registration forms will be available to anyone who needs to change their enrollment. The form must be filled out and submitted to the Framingham DTC Chair Beverly Hugo.)

Framingham is allotted 36 delegates that will include the Democratic Town Committee Chair an ex-officio delegate.  The remaining 35 delegate seats will be filled by election at the caucus.  The delegation is gender balanced evenly, 17 male and 17 female. The final 35th delegate may be either male or female.

In addition 6 alternates will be elected. These will be 3 male, 3 female.

Registered Democrats in Framingham who are not able to attend the caucus may be considered to fill any vacant seats after election of delegates and alternates has been concluded.  Such persons must advise the Framingham DTC Chair, Beverly Hugo, in advance of their desire to be considered accordingly.  Contact for Beverly is:, 508-875-7575.

NOTE: The state convention takes place on Saturday June 3rd in Lowell. Delegates and alternates pay a $75 convention fee.  (Reduced amounts for seniors/students/youth, as well as waiver forms are available.)

Challenges to the caucus may be made in writing to:
